Dress for the occasion: What should you wear to the Job interview? It is amazing that there are a number of applicants that do not subscribe to the notion that you only get one chance to make a first impression. If at all possible, dress professionally. Wear a suit and tie (or a dress-shirt and tie if you don’t have a suit), blouse and skirt/slacks, or a business suit. Men, wear dress shoes, women, sensible pumps. Regardless to the atmosphere at the prospective company, only dress in business casual attire if you do not have professional attire in your wardrobe. If this is the case, consider a small investment in a “Job interview outfit.” Keep in mind that if you choose to dress casually, other interviewees will dress professionally and there will be a stark contrast between you and them. Don’t dress in clothing that is too flashy or revealing.
Make sure your shoes are shined or at least clean. Although they may be your most comfortable pair of shoes, they don’t have to look that way.
In the event that you are at a company in which employees wear uniforms, if you are interviewing for a promotion or a different position, dress professionally for the interview, if possible. Otherwise, ensure that your uniform is impeccable and your appearance is like that of someone who could be the “face of the company.”
