Work At Home Agent

This is how it works. Imagine sitting at home, watching television and you see a commercial (or infomercial) for a product or service that interests you. You decide to jot down the 1-800 number and place an order. You speak with the operator and the operator takes your order and payment information. The operator bids you a good day and you hang-up the phone feeling satisfied about what you've just bought. All of this seems normal, but little did you know that the operator was a work at home agent who was sitting in her home office, in her pj's, and sipping on a diet soda while waiting for the next call.

An independent agent, as they are often called, actually owns her own company, and is considered to be an independent contractor. These agents incorporate their companies and they pay their own taxes. They are contracted by a company that provides phone based customer service for multiple companies. Independent agents can earn something in the range of $6 - $20 dollars per hour. Their typical earnings are more like $9 - $11 per hour depending on their overall performance. Keep in mind that these hourly earning are not reduced by the cost of gas, clothing and lunches, and there is no time spent commuting back and forth to work.

Many times, independent agents are paid per minute of talk time or per call. Some companies also hire employees to be work at home agents and pay them an hourly salary. These positions are referred to as telecommuting jobs.

Many of these work at home opportunities, as with others that are listed, require broadband (cable or DSL) internet connections and a dedicated, traditional, phone connection that does not utilize VoIP telephone technology such as Vonage. Their expectation is that each independent contractor has a telephone with a head set and a noise free environment in their home office or work space.

The following list of companies hire independent contractors or employees  as work at home agents. Each company has there own criteria for work at home agents and their methods and rates of payment vary as well.
